The Versions
DAY 27 OF 30 | PROMPT BY MATTHEW FEINSTEIN
Write a narrative poem in which the speaker is doing errands. Grocery store, post office, whatever the case, imagine the speaker at a seemingly mundane location. Once you get to three lines, copy and paste them into a new document and title it "Title of poem_1", then go back to writing your narrative in the original doc. As you write, stop to paste every three lines in a doc titled "Title of poem_[#]"...
Once the original narrative is complete, walk away for a few hours. When you come back, open "Title of poem_1". Now, rewrite the narrative beginning at the fourth line. Keep doing this until you reach the last document. At the end, you will have written several versions of the same poem. Now you can choose your most exciting lines/or an entire poem that shines the brightest.
